Privacy policy

Arix Studio is a one-person web design business in Downers Grove, Illinois. This policy explains what happens to information on arixdesign.com.

What this site collects

Nothing on its own. The site has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies, and it doesn't store anything you type.

The contact form

When you press "Request my preview", the form sends your business name, your email address and your current website (if you include it) to me as an email. It's delivered through Cloudflare, which hosts this site, and the site itself doesn't keep a copy. If you email me directly, I also receive anything else you write.

How I use it

  • To reply to you and, if you ask for one, to build your free preview.
  • To keep a record of our conversation while we work together.

I don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone for marketing. I don't add you to a mailing list.

Services this site loads

Like most websites, this one loads some files from other companies. Your browser connects to them directly, so they receive your IP address and basic browser details:

Your choices

You can ask me what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email hello@arixdesign.com and I'll do it, unless I need to keep something to finish work you've paid for or to meet a legal requirement.

Children

This site is for business owners. It isn't meant for children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page.

Terms

Free previews

A preview is a sample of what your new website could look like. It's free and there's no obligation: you don't have to sign anything or buy anything to see it. A preview may use your business name, public information and photos from your current site or listing so you can picture the result. It isn't published or shown to anyone else without your permission, and I'll take it down if you ask.

Paid work

Paid work starts only after we both agree to a written agreement that sets the scope, price, timeline and payment terms. If anything on this website differs from that agreement, the agreement controls. Prices on this site are in US dollars and can change, but the price in your signed agreement won't.

Max + Care

Max + Care costs $750 once, then $50 a month. The monthly part renews every month until you cancel. You can cancel anytime by emailing hello@arixdesign.com.

Your content

You keep ownership of your business name, logo, photos and text. When you send them to me, you confirm you have the right to use them and let me use them to build and maintain your site.

No guarantees about results

I build sites to work well on phones and to be easy for search engines to read, but I can't promise a particular search ranking, number of visitors or amount of sales. Google and other services decide their own rankings and listings.

This website

The design, text and code of arixdesign.com belong to Arix Studio. You're welcome to look and share links; please don't copy the site.

Liability

This website is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Arix Studio isn't responsible for losses from using this website. This doesn't limit any rights you have under the law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.

Accessibility

I want this site to work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader or zoom. It's built to work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA:

  • Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard, and has a visible focus outline.
  • Images have text descriptions, and decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, the scroll animations and the 3D scene are replaced with still versions.
  • Text is sized in relative units so it scales with your browser settings.

Example sites

Kettle & Crumb, Fourth Rep and Platform Coffee are fictional businesses made up to show the kind of work I do. Their "before" and "after" sites, web addresses, prices, hours and text are invented. Any resemblance to a real business is a coincidence. Photos in the examples come from the open collections credited below.
